At the start of the new year, it’s time to reflect on what we did throughout this one, and what we can improve or change in 2023. Regardless of whether you want to kick-start a new marketing campaign, or you want to implement the Divi popup editing trends, we’re here to help!
Of course, designing and editing popups can be a real turning point for your conversion rate, and since with our plugins, we’ve helped countless of Divi designers and users to come up with their preferred popup layout, during the process, we’ve noticed quite a bit of trends that the most successful websites use and profit from.
In this article, we will go over the five Divi popup editing trends for marketers in 2023, for which we think they will mark the year 2023 and help you generate more leads on your website. Let’s begin.

- Sliding from The Side
- Being Bright & Energetic
- Matching the Brand Style
- Emphasizing With Visuals
- Capturing the Right Moment
- Wrapping Up
Sliding from The Side
Moving from the side is not only useful in basketball. It can be a massive advantage when optimizing popups for greater conversion rates, and you can use slide-in of the screen to convert visitors just as well as with the full-screen popups.
A sidebar fly-in popup provides plenty of space for users to browse the page and at the same time, read your entire call-to-action message. It’s an excellent tactic to welcome visitors, add a sign-up form, promote an eBook, sale, or a product.
Here’s how HubSpot uses fly-ins to greet readers and invite them to learn more about a certain topic, in exchange for an email:
This is especially beneficial if you want to build your email list and fetch more sign ups for your blog.
Want to add a Fly-in sidebar popup to your Divi website?
You can use Divi Areas Pro to stick a Fly-in to any side or corner of the page. Moreover, visitors will still be able to scroll through the page while the Fly-in popup is present.
The Fly-In template is easy to enable within the plugin. Simply create a brand-new Divi Area, and in the Area Settings, choose the ‘Fly-In’ layout type:
In the Layout settings, you’ll also find the ‘Area Alignment’ feature as well. Here, you can choose on which place on the screen the Fly-In area would appear:
It is that easy, with the Divi Areas Pro plugin!
Before publishing the Fly-in, of course, you will need to adjust the copy, image, color, and the popup trigger.
Being Bright & Energetic
We don’t say that you’ll need to be as bright as an 80’s neon light here. But, you do need to use brighter colors that won’t annoy users, but at the same time, don’t leave their minds either.
Here’s an example of how Enro uses the brightest color of them all, white, against fonts and the rest of the popup elements.
Contrary to popular marketing beliefs about colors, sometimes, a white background and a great typeface is all you need. It’s a low-risk editing tactic that can match any brand, and can help you highlight any CTA or headline.
Whatever color combination you decide to implement, keep in mind that your choice must communicate what your popup offers and your brand’s purpose.
Matching the Brand Style
Speaking of brand matching, since your popups are part of your website, it’s important that they blend seamlessly with your brand’s style. This means that each element of your popups needs to look similar to your other pages.
For example, Ramp does a great job in creating effective popups that match their branding style perfectly.
The popup matches with their logo, main product, and the main product. That’s good for your brand recognition, and helping website visitors get a unified experience as a result.
Emphasizing With Visuals
You already know the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” This is absolutely correct, particularly when we’re talking about popups.
That’s why you need to use excellent visuals (images, gifs, graphics, illustrations) to enhance the power of your popups. The right visuals have the power to highlight your offer, such as the following example from Oodie:
Including a relevant image from one of the products is a bonus, and along with the message, it creates a FOMO feeling, and consequently, more conversions.
Capturing the Right Moment
Ever arrived on a website only to be greeted with a popup immediately? It can be annoying, especially if you want to collect more subscribers for your website.
Instead, a much better alternative, and as a matter of fact, the right alternative would be to wait until it’s the right moment to trigger the popup.
For example, our premium popup plugin Divi Areas Pro provides multiple ways to trigger a Popup or an Divi Area, without any edits on your page or inserting a code snippet.
You can choose a set of automatic triggers that can be configured directly in the Trigger tab, without having to edit your page or insert a code snippet.
Module Link
You can define a trigger by setting any Module Link to an Area ID #sample-area, which works great for every Divi Module, particularly Sections and Rows.
Exit Intent
When editing an on-page Popup (i.e., with the Popups for Divi plugin), you can use the Enable Exit Intent flag to make that Popup appear up when an intent to exit is detected.
When you edit a Divi Area, you can use the automatic Exit Intent trigger to do the same.
Automatic Triggers
Through the Divi Areas meta box, you can use any of the built-in automatic triggers: On Click, On Hover, After Delay, On Scroll to element or position, Exit Intent, On Inactivity, On Browser Focus.
URL Hash
With Divi Areas Pro, you can trigger your Areas on a specific page by adding the Area ID to the URL, which can be ideal for triggering a Popup after completing a contact form.
Hover Triggers
A repeated hover trigger can display the Area every time the trigger event happens, such as clicking a button or hovering a menu item.
Dynamic Content URL
You can use the Divi Dynamic Content feature to insert a Divi Area trigger to any URL field of your website. When using this trigger, the Area will be automatically loaded on the page, regardless of your pre-defined “Page Rules” for the Area.
Make sure to track user behavior and average time on page if you want to use data to set up your popup triggers with Divi Areas Pro.
Wrapping Up
We hope you’ve found the list of popup editing trends for 2023 helpful. It’s important to not overlook popup design as a whole, and just how powerful of an impact the layout can have on your website visitors and conversion rates.
Bottom line, a popup can either interrupt the UX or create an opportunity. While the editing trends above are an excellent place to get started, a high-converting popup ultimately depends on adapting your design to what’s working for your Divi website.
